Biography
Koichiro Inomata obtained his Ph.D degree in Department of Physics, Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1970. He joined Toshiba R & D Center in 1970. After that he moved to Tohoku University in 2000 as a professor of Department of Materials Science. He retired Tohoku University and entered National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in 2006. He was also a Chair Professor of Department of Electronic Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea during 2013 - 2014. He co-authored refereed journal papers more than 250 and 28 books and obtained patents more than 140. He received Purple Ribbon Medal from the Prime Minister in Japan in 2000. He is currently an Emeritus Fellow in NIMS and a Fellow of Japan Society of Applied Physics.
Research Interest
Rare earth permanent magnets, amorphous alloys, amorphous magnetic oxides, spin glasses, nanostructured magnetic materials such as metallic multilayers and nanogranulars, and spintronics such as GMR material and devices, half-metallic Heusler alloys, TMR materials and devices, magnetization switching by spin-current and electric field, HDD, MRAMs etc.
