Dr. Qiang has studied magnetic nanoparticles and nanocomposites for more than 30 years. His expertise includes: synthesis of nanoclusters and nanocluster-assembled composites; and characterization of magnetic and optical properties as well as transports of the nanomaterials by conductivity, optic and susceptibility. He applies magnetic nanomaterials in energy, environmental and biomedical science and technology.

Magnetic Nano-materials.

Professor Yongbing Xu, Director of the Nanjing-York Joint Center in Spintronics and NanoEngineering, Nanjing University, China; Chair in Nanotechnology, also heads the Spintronics and Nanodevice Laboratory, The University of York. He was an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow in Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge University. His research interests are in the areas of nanomaterials, spintronics and nanofabrication. He has published more than 300 refereed papers in leading academic journals including Science Advances, Physical Review Letters, Prog. Mater. Sci., Nature Communications, Nano Letter, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Scientific Reports, Applied Physics Letters and IEEE journals and given many invited talks/seminars at major international conferences including MRS, WUNSPIN, EMN and Intermag. He was chair of five international conferences in spintronics. He was editor-in-Chief of “Handbook of Spintronics” by Springer, and edited the very first spintronics book “Spintronic Materials and Technology” by CRC Press. He had interviews with BBC News24 and New Scientists.

Spintronics,Nanotechnology

Krzysztof Mizerski has an expertise in theoretical magnetohydrodynamics and hydromagnetic dynamo theory. Recent works involve description of the influence of diffusive effects on magnetic buoyancy instability in the Solar tachocline, identification of non-Taylor reversed-field-pinch states in magnetic relaxation problem and novel mechanisms of large-scale magnetic field induction by low-resistivity plasma. The latter are desirable for galactic and intra-cluster dynamo theory.

Geomagnetism

Dr. Parans Paranthaman is a Corporate Fellow and a Group Leader of Materials Chemistry at the Chemical Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a Distinguished UT-Battelle Inventor at ORNL, and fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), Materials Research Society (MRS), AAAS, American Physical Society (APS), American Ceramic Society, ASM International and the Institute of Physics (IOP), London, UK. He has a joint faculty appointment with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Bredesen Center as a Professor since 2010. He earned his PhD degree in solid state chemistry under the guidance of Professor G V Subba Rao from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1988. He was a postdoctoral fellow with Professor John Goodenough (1988-1991) at the University of Texas, Austin, Center for Materials Science and Engineering and a research associate with Professor Allen Hermann (1991-1993) at the superconductivity laboratories, Department of Physics at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He joined the Chemistry Department at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in May 1993. He was named the Lockheed-Martin (ORNL) scientist of the year in 1997. He was named ORNL Inventor of the year in 2016. He has authored or co-authored more than 406 journal publications with an “h-index” of 62 (Google scholar citation) and issued 44 U.S. Patents related to superconductivity, energy storage and solar cells. He has commercialized and licensed his technologies to six companies.

Superconductivity

Koichiro Inomata obtained his Ph.D degree in Department of Physics, Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1970. He joined Toshiba R & D Center in 1970. After that he moved to Tohoku University in 2000 as a professor of Department of Materials Science. He retired Tohoku University and entered National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in 2006. He was also a Chair Professor of Department of Electronic Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea during 2013 - 2014. He co-authored refereed journal papers more than 250 and 28 books and obtained patents more than 140. He received Purple Ribbon Medal from the Prime Minister in Japan in 2000. He is currently an Emeritus Fellow in NIMS and a Fellow of Japan Society of Applied Physics.

Rare earth permanent magnets, amorphous alloys, amorphous magnetic oxides, spin glasses, nanostructured magnetic materials such as metallic multilayers and nanogranulars, and spintronics such as GMR material and devices, half-metallic Heusler alloys, TMR materials and devices, magnetization switching by spin-current and electric field, HDD, MRAMs etc.

Paulo C Morais was full Professor of Physics at University of Brasilia (UnB) – Brazil up to 2013, Appointed as UnB’s Emeritus Professor (2014), Visiting Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology – China (2012-2015), Distinguished Professor at Anhui University – China (2016-2019), Full Professor at the Catholic University of Brasília – Brazil (2018), CNPq-1A Research Fellowship since 2010, 2007 Master Research Prize from UnB, Senior Member of the IEEE Society, 2012 China’s 1000 Foreign Expert Recipient, and 2012 Academic Excellence Award from Brazilian Professor’s Union. Paulo Morais published over 450 papers (WoS: IF = 38, citations > 5,800) on technical journals, authored 15 patents and presented over 120 invited talks worldwide.

Magnetism and Magnetic Materials

Doctor of Engineering Science, Chief Research Scientist of the Metallophysics Laboratory of the Institute of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. A PhD thesis in the field of physical methods of technical diagnostics of materials has been defended in the Institute. A doctoral thesis on the issues of magnetic interactions between series connections and defects in magnetic and non-magnetic materials has been defended in the Institute of Metal Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ekaterinburg. Main areas of research investigations include applied aspects of electromagnetic phenomena in materials. Recently, articles on interaction of magnetic fluxes in magnetizable bodies have been published. In the field of education cooperation with the Belarusian National Technical University (the “Robotic Systems” Department) and with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (the “Engineering Psychology and Ergonomics” Department).

Applied aspects of electromagnetic phenomena in materials

Rachid Masrour, from Morocco, actually, is a Professor in the National School of Applied Sciences at the University of Cadi Ayyad, Safi, Morocco where he has been a faculty member since April 2011. Dr. Rachid Masrour completed his Ph.D. in March 2006 at University of Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah, Fez, Morocco. His research interests lie in the area of Magnetism of materials and Condensed Matter Physics. He has 210 articles published in Thomson Reuters and 9 book chapters published in international journal. He participated in more 60 Moroccan and international congress. He's a Referee of a several articles and also Editorial Board Members in different international journal. He has a lot of collaboration with laboratories from abroad.

Javad Abolfazli Esfahani (Iran 1960), PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada in 1997, is a professor in Mechanical Engineering, Energy conversion, at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. To date, he has published 5 books/chapters, 160 articles in peer reviewed international journals and more than 100 conference papers. He has worked on theoretical and numerical heat and mass transfer such as drying, solar desalination, condensing boiler, and micro/nano-fluidics. Dr. Esfahani is a member of Iranian combustion Institute and Iranian society of mechanical Engineering, Director of Center of Excellence in Energy Management, Certified by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Centre of excellence in modeling and control of system, Ferdowsi university of Mashhad, Centre of excellence in energy conversion, Sharif university of Technology, and editorial boards of Fuel and Combustion (Iranian), IRECHE, Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer Research. He obtains 14 awards for books, research and supervisor of thesis from ISME, Ferdowsi festival, and Iranian combustion society.

Nano fluidics

Georgios K. Kertsopoulos is a Greek-Canadian inventor, author, researcher, guitar soloist, luthier, string constructor, composer and professor of the guitar. He is the inventor of this world patented invention "Magnetic system of three interactions" WO2013136097A4. Practical demonstrations of the effects produced by this novel technology have been made in front of Researchers and Academia, at seminars and B2B meetings and conferences. He published his "Space-Time Theory" in Greek in 2009. Claudia Masselli is a Researcher at Department of Industrial Engineering of University of Salerno (Italy). She earned the Ph.D title in Industrial Engineering on March 2017, discussing the thesis entitled "Magnetic refrigeration an attraction toward our future". The main research topic is solid-state refrigeration both experimentally and numerically. Through the development of two-dimensional finite element models, she investigates the energetic performances of different solid-state materials in solid-state refrigerators. Her researches embrace, also, the energy and environmental optimization of vapor compression cycles. She is winner of two Young Researcher Awards, she is member of editorial board of 5 international journals and reviewer of 29 international journals related to heat transfer, refrigeration, energy and engineering science fields.

Magnetic Materials

Dr Moorthi Kanagaraj is currently designated as Assistant Researcher in School of Electronics Science and Engineering at the Nanjing University, China. He earned his Ph.D. in physics at School of Physics in Bharathidasan University, India after a Master’s and MPhil degree from the University of Periyar, TamilNadu India. He also been working in magnetic and transport properties of several iron based and bismuth superconducting compounds at Solid state and Nanomaterials lab, Indian institute of Technology, Delhi for 6 months as a Research Associate. Then, Dr. Kanagaraj joined the physics faculty at the University of Karpagam as an assistant professor. He has finished his second postdoctoral degree from JNCASR, Bangalore since Jan. 2017 to June 2018. He has published over 25 research articles, and presented over 10 conference/meetings

João Fernandes is Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of University of Lisbon from 2018. Since 2016 he has been developing his research work at IDMEC/LAETA research unit in the areas of electrical machines, multi-physic modeling and optimization. He obtained his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at IST in 2017 with a PhD national scholarship and followed is work with a Post-Doc scholarship at IDMEC/LAETA until 2018. His research interests are in the areas of applied electromagnetism and energy conversion and new materials to applied to electric machines, having published several works in international journals, among them, in IEEE trans. Industrial Electronics, Energy Conversion and Management and Applied Energy. From 2016 he has published 12 papers in international refereed journals and presented 8 work in international refereed conferences.
